How do I clean my surface?

We would recommend just using warm soapy water as an everyday cleaner; this should remove all daily grease and grime. For marks or stains that are more stubborn, lemon juice or Q Action can be used. These must be applied and left on the surface for 5-10 minutes, wiped with a none abrasive cloth and then thoroughly rinsed off with warm soapy water. If marks still persist diluted Cillit Bang or CIF Actifizz can be used, however, these must not be left on the surface. They must be wiped off immediately using a none abrasive cloth and soft, circular movements, then thoroughly rinsed off with warm soapy water, ensuring no residue is left on the surface.

Can these materials be damaged?

The simple answer is yes, although these materials are very tough, they are not indestructible. In order to ensure your surfaces longevity please avoid the following:

Blunt/Heavy Items – Avoid dropping items onto the surface, which are as hard as the surface itself i.e. Pyrex dishes, particularly the edges, as they are the most vulnerable to damage.

Heavy Weights/Large Forces – Do not place heavy objects or apply pressure/force close to joints or cut outs (i.e. where the surface is least supported), do not sit or stand on your surface as this could lead to cracks or breakages.

Abrasive Materials – Such as unglazed ceramic bases, sand/grit or unpolished metals can cause scratches if slid over the surface. Do not clean with abrasive pads, scouring detergents or wire wool.

Sharp Objects – Such as knives must not be used directly on the surface; we recommend always using a chopping board, as this will also protect your knives.

Very Hot Items – Do not place hot pans or dishes directly onto the surface; we recommend using a trivet or pan stand to avoid scorching.

Staining – Avoid spillages and clean up any that do occur quickly and thoroughly. The most likely to cause damage are oil-based substances such as butter and cooking oil, alcohol and detergents. Chemicals such as paint stripper, nail varnish remover and oven cleaners should be avoided as these can cause permanent damage.

If damage occurs can repairs be made?

Depending on the level of damage, some repairs may be possible; minor damage to edges and highly patterned material is easier to fix, however other repairs may be possible (this will usually be assessed through photographs prior to a site visit being arranged).

How do I care for a Silestone Moulded Sink?

Do not place hot objects or boiling liquids directly into the sink, either allow them to cool first or run cold water into the sink at the same time. Do not allow contact with acidic products, paint strippers, caustic soda, oven cleaners, or drain un-blockers. If accidental spillage occurs, clean immediately and thoroughly with warm soapy water only. Take care with sharp objects to avoid surface scratches.
